The United in Humanity procession held on Saturday 23rd January 2010 was a huge success with people from many different faiths and background coming together to celebrate the common humanitarian values that are shared by all.

Imam Hussain blood donation campaign

"And whoever saves one life, it is as if he has saved the whole of mankind" The Holy Quran (5:32).

Set up in January 2006, the National Imam Hussain Blood Donation Campaign aims to encourage more Muslims to become blood donors. The event takes place during the month of Muharram, in commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (as), the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh).

Imam Al-Husayn

Ḥusayn ibn ‘Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib (al-Husayn) was born on 3rd Sha‘bān 4 AH (8 January 626 AD) and  was the son of ‘Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib (first Shī‘a Imām) and Fātimah Zahrā (daughter of the Prophet Muhammad).  Al-Husayn is an important figure in Islām, as he is a member of the Ahlul-Bayt (the household of Muhammad and one of The Fourteen Infallibles of Shī'a Twelvers. Al-Husayn was martyred on 10th Muharram 61 AH (10th October 680 AD) in the tragic battle of Karbala.
